Pinas Bay, Panama offers some of the world's most popular gamefish including Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, Wahoo, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna, Grouper, Roosterfish, Snapper and Amberjack. The word "Panama" means "an abundance of fish". Piñas Bay truly lives up to this meaning. In the waters around the Lodge, you can catch Dolphin, Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, Rainbow Runner, and Mackerel. We catch a few "Pacific" tarpon (which made the trip through the canal) every year in the 50 to 100 pound range. Black Marlin, Blue Marlin and Sailfish, can be caught “right outside our front door," making this a truly unique location. THERE HAVE BEEN MORE I.G.F.A. WORLD RECORDS BROKEN IN PINAS BAY THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD -- over 250 World Records! Tropic Star Lodge holds over fifty world records at the present time! Most of the records at the Lodge were taken on light and ultra light line -- which is what Piñas Bay is recognized for throughout the World! Also, recently we have recorded over 40 IGFA Junior Angler World Records!

Package Price - 2008 Season Rates

 DECEMBER 07 thru MARCH 08   -  $4,495.00 pp  Fishing 4 per boat

 APRIL thru SEPT. 08  -  $3,650.00 pp  Fishing 4 per boat

Deposit Amount

50% per person. Balance due 90 days prior to arrival date.

Package Includes

• 31’ Bertram yacht with experienced captain and mate

• First class fishing tackle

• Deluxe air-conditioned room with private bath and scenic view

• Full breakfast, boxed lunch, and four course dinners with complimentary wine, sodas, bottled water and ice-tea  

• Full days guided fishing 

• Daily maid service

• A basic gratuity of $150.00 pp per week or $75.00 pp per half weeks is also included in your rate for our land based staff at the lodge. This built in gratuity does not include your captain and mate(s) or our dock masters.  

Not Included

• International airfare to Panama City, Hotels and all expenses incurred in Panama City. Alcoholic beverages or drinks other than sodas, bottled water or ice tea will be charged to your room.

• A Panamanian room tax of $50.00 per room per week (or $25.00 pp double occupancy) and for shorter stays a charge of $3.50 pp per day double occupancy or $7.00 pp per day single occupancy will be charged.

• Tips for your crew are not included. In addition, any tips to our management staff or to anyone that made your trip extra special is always welcomed and appreciated.

• The Transfer fee of $500.00 per person payable to TROPIC EXPRESS is not included in the RATE and will be added to your package price. This must be paid separately via a Visa, Master Card or American Express. The Transfer fee includes round trip airfare from Panama City to the lodge, meet-and-greet and up to four transfers between the airport and hotel in Panama City. 

Season

All species of billfish and non-billfish can be caught year-round in the pristine waters off Piñas Bay. The prime Black Marlin season runs from December into April. The Pacific Sailfish start moving in April through June. July brings another run of Marlin; many in the five hundred pound range. Most of our fishing is done six to fifteen miles offshore in calm waters. In late January and February the north wind brings the cooler water and tailing Marlin. That’s the only time it can get a bit bumpy. Our fleet of 31’ foot Bertram’s is the perfect boat for fishing at Piñas Bay.
